Luckily it was raining the day it happened and my guess was it was more of a sand mix cause it was very powdered, the pressure washer took it right off. we rust proofed with an acid solution the bare steel areas and under coated the next day. It’s not any more caustic than the sea air and brine solutions we use in the winters in NJ. It was prolly the first time the undercarriage had a bath in the ten years it’s been on the road.

Customer called for interior detail and mold removal and odor removal. And then this showed up. We sent them on their way after finding this because it would be pointless to give it the extreme detail they wanted until the leak is addressed

Drove off the main road in front of our place clipped the curb went airborne hit 2 of our rentals totaling them and flipped and landed. We only had 2 rentals to rent out that day. Customer cars were on the other side of the sign thankfully.

The driveshaft also walked around on its way out and ripped the main battery cables and part of the switch out so the switch was see through lol. This was caused by a random rock hitting it while they were going pretty fast so that is why it broke the trans like that.

Valve body has metal debris in it...
The debris scores the bores and causes fluid to leak past and try to enter other bores, thus attempting to engage more than one gear, causing this tremendous fuckery lmao

Dealer strung the customer along for 6 months adding freon and coolant. Once the warranty expired they quoted 9k to do heater core, evap core and unplug drain line. While we were way less than 9k I recommended customer contact Volvos corporate office to try to get compensation.

I mean, damn.
So I have a body who used to work for uhaul. A truck came in from a one-way move, he when he cleaned it there was a remains box, just like this one in the glovebox. He called the previous customer, and it wasn’t theirs. The remains had been there for a couple of rentals. When he finally found the right person, they basically said to just throw them away.

As a former resident of PA, you can get anything inspected in PA (in most counties) if you know the right people. I know of at least one person who has a small (private) shop that him and his friends use that got licensed to do inspections, so he can sticker cars all day long. Odds of getting caught are pretty low “it wasn’t like that when I inspected it!”
Also on the plugged coolant passage on the 4.6 early in the post - while it’s true you should not use stop-leak, that’s the rear coolant port on the head, which goes nowhere (the intake manifold blocks it off). It’s only there since the L/R heads are symmetric castings, like most any. My p71 leaked from there when the intake cracked for a long time, and when I pulled the intake, even without having put anything in it, there was a decent amount of
stuff
in the port.

Here in Massachusetts they made a change requiring several cameras in the inspection bay to take snapshots during state inspections, so that they have a record of how things were when the inspection was conducted. I think the main enforcement mechanism is still (rare) random audits though. The shop that does my inspection has passed my car three straight times despite the fact my parking brake should fail it (really should get around to fixing it... it does do something, just not enough )

I liked the guy I went to when I lived in PA, he’d check for things that are actually important (suspension, brakes, major structural issues) but didn’t care if the parking brake worked (on an automatic) or if the license plate bulb was out, etc.

Here in VT they dont fuck around. Just search up Steven Jalbert. He rubber stamped a rotted car and an old lady died in a crash.
They convicted him of reckless endangerment, 6-18 months. It got moved down to 90 days.
